Job Title: Chearleading Coach
Location: Buford Middle School, Charlottesville, Virginia
Job Summary:
Buford Middle School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cheerleading Coach to lead and inspire our student-athletes. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a competitive and well-rounded program, fostering skill development, promoting teamwork, and instilling a strong work ethic in our student-athletes. The coach will also play a crucial role in promoting sportsmanship, character development, and academic success among team members.
Responsibilities:
- Coaching and Training:
- Provide skill development, strategic coaching, and position-specific training to enhance players' abilities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
- Player Development:
- Monitor and assess individual player performance, identifying areas for improvement.
- Provide constructive feedback to players and work closely with them to enhance their skills both on and off the court/field.
- Game Strategy and Preparation:
- Organize and conduct regular team practices, ensuring players are well-prepared for upcoming games/events.
- Encourage adaptive and strategic thinking during game/event situations.
- Leadership and Mentorship:
- Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, promoting character development, academic success, and responsible behavior.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to help players navigate challenges both on and off the court/field.
- Establish open lines of communication with players, parents, and school administration.
- Program Administration:
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the program, including scheduling, budget management, and equipment procurement.
- Collaborate with junior varsity and middle school coaches to ensure continuity and alignment in the overall softball program.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (preferred) in a related field.
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle or high school level.
- Demonstrated success in developing and leading competitive programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the program.
- Ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes both academically and athletically.
- Additional Information:
- This is a volunteer role. A nominal stipend is provided.
- The coach will comply with all CCS policies and procedures.
- The coach will work collaboratively with school administration and staff.
