CLASS Group Leader

WORK HOURS: 2:00-5:30 PM

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  1. To maintain an organized and safe after-school program for CLASS students and staff.
  2. To effectively plan and implement activities in an after-school setting.
  3. To develop and maintain open communication and positive relationships with children and adults.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent. Experience working with elementary aged students is preferred.

 

REPORTS TO: CLASS Site Director

CLASS Senior Site Director, Division Coordinator of Instruction, and/or Principal

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Professional Performance:
  1. To comply with school and school board policies and regulations.
  2. To work collaboratively with CLASS and school staff members and be a cooperative member of the team.
  3. To practice and promote positive interactions with and among CLASS students and staff.
  4. To implement appropriately enriching and engaging learning activities.
  5. To supervise areas so that children and property remain safe.
  6. To interact with students during free play and activity times so that they are fully engaged in the experience.
  7. To handle minor discipline problems using established policy and procedures; refer more difficult problems to the site director.
  8. To communicate with the site director regarding issues and concerns.
  9. To perform routine tasks such as:

    • Organizing games and supplies for planned activities
    • Assisting with snack preparation
    • Recording attendance
    • Guiding volunteers in appropriate activities
    • Assisting with special events
    • Carrying out transitions according to set schedule
    • Ensuring that the work area is left clean and organized.
  10. To attend, as required, staff meetings and professional learning activities.
  11. To demonstrate command of Standard English, both written and spoken.
  12. To be reliable and punctual.
  13. To perform related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Hourly employment

Salary established by the Instructional Assistant Pay table

Professional Learning and Training is available for this position and offered throughout the School Year.
