SUMMARY:

Provides all levels of information technology consulting, planning, support and services to an assigned organizational unit; serves as the primary school/program technology leader; manages school local network, equipment, and all associated technologies; plans, manages, and supports the configuration, deployment, and integration of all school/program technologies; and performs related duties as required or assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TYPICAL TASKS:

  • Provides information technology consulting services and support to school sites, including students, teachers, school administrators and program managers.
  • Acts as primary information technology point of contact
  • Provides break/fix services for school-based equipment
  • Plan, manage, and supports the configuration, deployment, and integration of all school/program technologies
  • Works collaboratively with and as part of the Department of Technology Services Technology Support and Helpdesk Team
  • Responsible for ownership of all incident management for school/program, including incident assignment, escalation, validation of resolution, continual service improvement and reporting;
  • Manages and supports site-based technology infrastructure and associated equipment
  • Develops and deploys automation tools via admin console (Google) and Active Directory (Windows) and manages site-based account management
  • Responsible for training users and implementing enterprise standard best practices for local network resources, data integrity, and security
  • Coordinates hardware maintenance and repair activities and performs required desktop maintenance
  • Install, configure, and supports software, hardware, local and networked technologies and resources;
  • Designs and conducts formal training classes, as required, with special emphasis on the use of equipment, desktop, and mobile device platforms, and enterprise software applications
  • Manages student technology devices and software for their assigned site(s)
  • Create, prepare, revise, maintain and present complex documentation in nontechnical terms for users, school administrators/program managers, school business partners, and school community/parent groups
  • Assists school-based and central office-based staff with assessment
  • Conducts pilots and testing of administrative and/or instructional computer technology software and hardware
  • Collaborates with other school-based technology specialists, appropriate central office staff, and technology team members to ensure smooth integration and use of technology
  • Acts as a liaison for all system enhancements, hardware repair, and network profiles and/or upgrades

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,  & ABILITIES:

Education/Experience/Skills Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, plus three years of progressively more responsible educational work experience with special emphasis in computer technology and its applications.

 

Can demonstrate knowledge of principles, concepts, and methods of applicable computer technology and its most effective and efficient utilization; good knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, instructional technology requirements; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

JOB FAMILY COMPETENCIES:

Reports to Lead Technical Support Specialist. Can demonstrate knowledge of principles, concepts, and methods of applicable computer technology and its most effective and efficient utilization; good knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, instructional technology requirements; knowledge of operating systems and the software used in a network environment; knowledge of three or more computer and network operating systems, and proficiency at standard desktop, mobile and communications applications and protocols; and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator’s license with a good driving record and employee provided transportation required. Must be able to lift 60lbs. unassisted.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:

 

Work is typically performed in an office at a desk. Handling supplies, equipment, and funds weighing up to 50 pounds is required. Occasional sustained operation of office machinery is necessary. Independently prepares concise and clear complex and strategic documentation. Analyzes complex or difficult communication situations and formulates effective responses. Balances and optimizes the skills and contributions of others; creates an environment that allows others to willingly share expertise with others. Promotes positive solution-oriented communication. Other physical activities are required, such as, but not limited to bending, stooping, reaching, and grasping. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for monitoring and determining needs; the worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, noise, and hazards
