POSITION TITLE: Assistant Principal (May be filled with an interim appointment.)
FLSA: Exempt Professional
QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must hold a Virginia license with an endorsement in Administration & Supervision.

Effective communication skills.

Effective problem-solving skills.

Ability to work during non-scheduled teaching hours.
REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 days of employment
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

To provide assistance to the principal during the normal operation of the school.

To provide administrative leadership in the absence of the principal.

To provide leadership and support to the principal in the following organizational areas.

Summer school registration
-
Pre-school activities
-
School handbooks
-
Coordination of PTO activities
-
Curriculum organization
-
In-service sessions for faculty
-
Other administrative tasks as assigned by the principal
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Culturally Responsive Teaching strategies and bilingual in English and another World Language preferred.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:
Duties performed typically in school settings to include: classroom; gymnasism, cafeteria; auditorium; and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, light lifting, up to 40 pounds, and other limited physical activities are required. Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Regular Instruction to special needs children may be necessary. Occasional lifting of equipment such as audio-visuals weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members, and parents is required. Occasional contact with medical professionals may be required. Frequent contact with families by phone and in person is necessary.
