Job Title: After School Tutor  

Reports to:  Principal



Anticipated Work Schedule:  Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3:15-4:15PM

 

Summary 

The School Tutor plays a pivotal role in providing academic assistance and guidance to students outside regular school hours. The primary responsibilities of an School Tutor typically include, but are not limited to academic support in reading and math, individualized learning, and progress monitoring.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Proficiency in various subjects or a strong command of specific disciplines coupled with the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles; effective communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to explain complex concepts, providing constructive feedback, and engaging with students, parents, and school staff; patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for teaching; organizational skills that will aid in planning and structuring tutoring sessions while managing time efficiently and maintaining records of student progress; grasp of pedagogical techniques, educational standards, and learning styles; ability  to implement varied teaching strategies to enhance student comprehension; collaboration with teachers and parents, knowledge of technology integration, and the ability to maintain a disciplined and safe environment.

 

Education and/or Experience:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field preferred. 

 

Physical Conditions and Nature of Work: 

The usual and customary methods of performing the teaching position require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and the significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 24% sitting, 33% walking, and 43% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions. 

 

Hourly Rate:

$20-$40
